E-mail from President - March 17, 2019

Hello MCLL Players and Families!!

Mill Creek Little League is off to a great start for our 2019 season and I want to share a few things that we've been up to!

First - I'd like to introduce myself to you - My name is Tina Ryan and I am the new President for this season. I have been involved with MCLL for many years as a parent, coach, board member and some of you may remember me as the prior President - well… I'm back and look forward to getting to know you all!

Many of our Teams are up and playing their game schedule. Rookies and T-ball will be organized very soon - so there is still time for your friends and neighbors to get registered to play.

A few things will look a little different this year - mostly on the fields. Many fields are still very wet given all our snow this year. Our volunteers will be busily reviewing the conditions of the fields and trying their best to get them in playable condition as soon as possible. We have also lost the use of one of our Quads, so if you know anyone who is selling one, or someone who has one and wants to volunteer to help on the fields - please let us know!

You may also have seen that our premier field - Freedom Field, is getting a makeover. While this is fantastic and definitely needed - it has created a major delay in using that facility. When originally proposed the City thought we would be on the field by the end of March (already a delay from our prior year's start times) but now, due to construction delays, the City estimates that we are looking at not being able to use the field until late April or early May. While this is disappointing we have made arrangements to have access to other fields, such as Tambark Park that will allow us to play on turf and under the lights. Our neighbor, North Bothell Little League, has graciously given up a day there so we will have Sundays until May 5. Everett School District has also closed several of the school fields that we've used in the past, due to maintenance, so it has been a challenge to find places to play this year.

As your Teams form, your Coaches will be calling upon you to help out in many ways. We need volunteers for field day - this day is where we go in and spruce up the field, build mounds, and do general clean up and repair. Of course our wonderful Snack Shack will need volunteers to staff that as soon as we are able to get on Freedom Field. We also need Team Parents - who can help their Coach, organize uniform hand out, messaging parents, field prep, etc! Another very important job is the Safety Parent. This person is someone who will be at most, if not all, games and able to help the Coaches if there is an emergency. The Safety Parent must also attend a MCLL Safety Meeting and be certified in CPR (we can train you!). Often, their primary job is making sure the MCLL Safety Bag is kept fully stocked with ice packs and band-aids.

Please give generously of your time to your team - we really need every parent to get involved. Please Note- All volunteers must apply and consent to a criminal background check. Please email me at President@millcreeklittleleague.com to request your background check to be done - we will send you the link to apply, and yes, your social security number is absolutely required for this background check. Our Safety plan is in place to protect our kids and no person is allowed on the field, in the dugout, or to have any interaction with the kids unless they have been fully vetted by MCLL and are displaying their 2019 MCLL badge.

Finally, we do have some great sponsorship opportunities for the 2019 season. If you know of a business that would be interested in having their info displayed on our website, and at our fields please direct them to our sponsorship page or have them email sponsorship@millcreeklittleleaue.com. If your employer matches your volunteer hours we would love to hear from you. This is a wonderful way to give back to the kids of Mill Creek Little League!

We have fun filled season ahead of us and can't wait to get started. Please save the date of April 27th for our Mill Creek Little League Day and check out our website calendar for other great events!
