MIT Championship
Mill Creek teams meet in MIT Championship!

The 2014 MIT was exciting as it's ever been with 10 teams participating from 7 different leagues this year. Both Mill Creek teams played extremely well and after cruising through the single elimination bracket, they both knocked out the two teams from Pacific to advance to the Championship game. The Mill Creek Nationals won 10-4 over the Mill Creek Americans to take the MIT Championship.

Nicky Travena from the Nationals team pitched a complete game giving up 7 hits while striking out 6. Ben Snider had a double and 3 RBI. Travena had 2 hits and Jacob Sugawara, Bradley Tharp, and Nathan Hjellen also doubled for the Nationals. They went 5-0 throughout the tournament. The Americans were led by Alex Vierra's triple, Jensen Elsemore's double, and Evan Mothersbaugh's double along with 2 RBI.

Two More Mill Creek Umpires Graduate from Week Long Residential Little League Umpire School!

May 5th, 2014. Mill Creek Little League has 2 more active umpires who are graduates of the San Bernardino week long residential umpire school. This Rigourous 7 Day event happens at Little League Western Region Headquarters with attendees bunking in the same barracks used by Teams for Regional Championships. We also eat the same food prepared and served by the same cooks in the same cafetteria as the kids and coaches who play at San Bernardino. 14 Hour days feature extensive immersion in field and plate mechanics, rules, and drills. It's a boot camp for umpires and rapidly improves an umpire's performance. MCLL now has 8 Active LL Umpire School graduates on our squad, far more than any other Washington Little League I know of and more than most entire districts.

Congratulations to CRAIG TASHIRO and FREDERICK MERTENS fro completing this school!

Thank you Mill Creek Little League for continued commitment to the best Little League Umpire Program in the State!

Check out this story written with the help of MCLL's Robert Allen and District 1 President, Ed Lundberg, about the changes to field sizes for Intermediate play.

Intermediate field of dreams: Little League expands size of diamond
For young kids, Little League has long been a way to learn and enjoy baseball on an appropriately sized field.
But when kids graduate from Little League at age 13, the jump to playing baseball on a regulation-sized diamond...

Jackson High School Softball Day

Jackson High School softball hosted little league day for our Mill Creek Players this evening. Jackson won both the varsity and JV games. The players in attendance had a lot of fun and learnt more about how the game should be played while watching. After the game we got a good photo with the JHS varsity team and many of our MCLL girls that were at the game.

We would like to thank JHS softball for their support in putting on a great little league day and for helping before the season with our skill and drill clinic.
